From Trip to Canberra

即使是在西方国家，Canberra作为首都也算是“简陋”之极了。如果不是国会大厦和众多的使馆，很难把这个小城市和一个面积达700多万平方公里的国家首都联系起来。Canberra在土著语中是”Meeting Place”的意思，之前我还以为这个名字是Canberra成为首度之后才取的，结果上维基百科才知道，这个名字在欧洲殖民之前，就已经存在了，因此选择这里作为首都，在名字上也算是“天意”吧。
去的景点无非就是Parliament House, Captain Cook Memorial Jet, Australian War Memorial之类的了。因为行程只有一天，市区和使馆区域就只有在车上走马观花了。因为是新建的城市，堪培拉给我的印象要比悉尼好，小巧，安静和整洁。
倒是从悉尼去堪培拉的路上，两边的风景很好。路上的车程有3个多小时，然而一点也不觉得无聊。树丛，草地，农场，山谷给人的感觉非常好。看来在澳洲这个大农村，买车自驾游还是很有必要的事情。
仍然没有看到活着的野生袋鼠…
